Yeah!!! We did it!!! I also was too tired to type anything yesterday.
I was thinking back to my favorite moments of the race and one was the National Anthem before the race, standing there with all those people, excited to run and not knowing what to expect. Another was when I saw that 12th mile marker and then noticed that the rest was downhill. I definitely enjoyed the downhills waaaaay more than the uphills!
When I got to the finish line, I expected some cheers from my family, but I think they got a little confused because I wasn't wearing the same stuff I started the race in, which was a poncho. They didn't recognize me and only Josh found me after I crossed the finish line. I was a little bummed, but still very excited to have made it. I was also excited about the cool medals we got at the end. I wore mine around all day!
This was a pretty difficult run. Aside from running 13 miles, the rain really made it even more difficult, and not very pleasant. Toward the end, my hands and feet were FREEZING! I think my feet actually went numb. Usually when I run, I enjoy myself and look around at the scenery and stuff. During the race, I didn't really care what landmarks we were passing or anything, I just wanted to be done!
Also, I had stomach issues pretty much the whole race. I think it's because I get so excited and nervous before races that it messes my system all up. This never happens during practice runs, but only during races. How did you do Elisabeth with the girly issues?
After the race I was so cold that I couldn't even stick around to find you guys to take some pictures. I just had to go home and jump in the shower. I did get some of the free stuff before I left though.
Today I am sooooo sore. I'm sore in places I've never been sore before. (I'm a poet) After the race I was pretty tired, but the soreness hadn't set in yet. Actually, I think I was so cold that I didn't feel any of the muscle soreness while I was running. That was kinda nice, I guess.
Well, aside from the rain and cold, I am still very proud that I made it through the 13 miles. I never thought I would run this far, and am so glad I did. I didn't quite beat my goal of 2 hours 30 minutes. According to the race results, it was 2 hours 32 minutes and 40 or 50 seconds. At lease I did my best and finished the race and thats all that matters.
So what's next for us bunnies?
